The Talayar Valley Bungalow first started off life as the tea plantation manager’s bungalow and still today it exudes colonial character. Located just 20km from the town of Munnar you will experience a rural idyll, whilst only being a short car journey away from civilisation. The Bungalow itself is tastefully decorated and all rooms are all extremely spacious and beautifully decorated with antique furniture and luxurious fabrics.

As the name suggests the Sun Rise room provides the perfect vantage point from which to witness daybreak should you be an early riser and 180-degree views of the stunning vista. Dating back to the 1930’s the estate has well established rose and vegetable gardens and of course its’ fully functioning tea plantations. An afternoon spent getting lost in Talayar Valley’s luscious grounds would be one well spent. The estate also borders the Eravikulam National Park, from where you can go in search of a huge variety of flora and fauna. 

To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.
