Thorntree River Lodge
Victoria Falls (Zambia)
Set on the banks of the legendary Zambezi, the stunning Thorntree River Lodge is a unique African lodge with a stylish and sexy design, but with authenticity and an eco-friendly ethos at its heart. The lodge was completely rebuilt in 2017 using environmentally friendly construction methods and materials to include 8 twin rooms and 2 family units containing 4 beds each. Each suite has its own indoor and outdoor bathrooms, a luxurious plunge pool and wonderful views over the hippo-filled river and pristine riverbanks where elephant and other game wander freely.
Thorntree River Lodge’s facilities include a great gym and spa looking out over the Zambezi River and a communal deck with a gorgeous sunken boma area which moves with the water level, as well as an infinity pool. The contemporary styling of the lodge comes from the clean lines, natural materials, simple furnishings and understated décor including chic sail canopies. However, it still maintains a warm African feel, accentuated by the lovely dome roofs and the sparse scattering of ethnic cushions, rugs and artworks.
Thorntree River Lodge is set within Zambia's Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, where a highlight is tracking rhino on foot. Another must-do when staying at Thorntree River Lodge is a privately guided tour of the iconic Victoria Falls, located a short distance from the lodge. Other activities include sunrise and sunset boat cruises on the lodge's fleet private river boats, canoe trips, picnic lunches on a private island in the middle of the Zambezi River, cultural village visits, and tours of Livingstone Town and museum.
