Sri Lanka’s most exclusive luxury property collection, Ceylon Tea Trails, has unveiled the results of the hotly anticipated refurbishment of its 120-year old tea planter’s bungalow, Dunkeld, the swankiest of all the collection.
Sitting high on the banks of Castlereagh reservoir, this boutique bungalow hotel overlooks the tea factory and the verdant and rolling hills of Dunkeld tea estate, possibly one of the most picturesque tea plantations in Sri Lanka. The outdoor infinity pool opens up to the glorious panoramic views of the Great Western mountain range, whilst the bubbling hot tub seemingly floats above the lake surface.
The luxurious en-suite rooms are spacious and comfortable, offering beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, and each have been expertly decorated with the classic tea plantation in mind. Dunkeld also boasts of a private ‘Owner’s Cottage’, a secluded standalone residence hidden privately in the tea fields. With a heated Jacuzzi and unsurpassed lake views, this romantic cottage is perfect for couples and honeymooners.
Dining takes on a traditional colonial menu with a contemporary twist, with freshly sourced local ingredients. The bungalow grows many of its ingredients in the vegetable and herb garden; basil, rosemary, thyme, sage and mint inspire and enrich the chef’s menus every day.
