Amanpuri
Phuket
Amanpuri is one of Ampersand's Top 10 Aman Resorts in Asia and Top 10 Beach Hotels.
Aman’s flagship property, Amanpuri (meaning ‘place of peace’ in Sanskrit) lies on a sheltered headland on Phuket’s west coast, overlooking the glittering Andaman Sea, and is the perfect location to begin or end a luxury tailor-made tour to Thailand.
The 40 spacious Thai-styled guest Pavilions and 44 Residences are situated amongst a sheltered coconut grove on a peninsula, which leads down to the white crescent of Pansea Beach, overlooking the captivating Andaman Sea. The pavilions and villas have been constructed sympathetically with exposed multi-tiered rooflines, understated, air-conditioned interiors, outside salas or private dining decks, which are complimented by the midnight blue pools. They are scattered along the walkway, interspersed in the coconut groves or overlooking the ocean, depending on the category. The Residences are adjacent to the resort, almost hidden by coconut palms, each one consists of two to six separate bedrooms decorated with Thai furnishings, art and antiques. They come equipped with private pools, living and dining Thai salas, as well as a live-in maid and cook attend to all guests’ needs, including the preparation of Thai cuisine in a private kitchen.
At the centre of the property is a sleek, 27-metre swimming pool, a midnight-blue centrepiece which reflects the azure sky. Surrounding the pool is a stone terrace and the pool pavilion, in which traditional Thai music is performed each night. There are many dining venues available which overlook the main swimming pool and the beach; the poolside Thai Restaurant is the original Aman dining experience, specialising in exquisite Thai cuisine, Italian restaurant Arva is open for dinner creating sophisticated Italian dishes, the Bar, serving drinks and light snacks, is complemented by the walk-in wine cellar, with over 200 varieties, the South American Lounge serves Latin American inspired cocktails and street food, and Nama showcases Japanese washoku cuisine in its finest. The Beach Club on Pansea Beach has a poolside lounge and bar, and a restaurant serving Mediterranean lunches and wood-fired pizza.
Amanpuri’s comprehensive spa offers an extensive menu of massage and beauty treatments, using Aman’s own range of chemical-free, natural products. There is also a gym and Pilates centre with panoramic ocean views and juice bar, and complimentary yoga and meditation are held on the hillside teakwood salas.
