Gravetye Manor
Sussex
Gravetye Manor is an Elizabethan stone mansion that sits in 1,000 acres of picturesque woodland. It is located near to the famous Glyndebourne opera house, next to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just one-hour drive from London. Built in 1598, it was once owned by the famous visionary gardener, William Robinson. He was a pioneer of natural planting in harmony with the landscape and this is represented in the historic gardens at Gravetye. The gardens are being fully restored, with seven full-time gardeners headed by Tom Coward, who previously worked on the famous Great Dixter Gardens. All 17 bedrooms have been redecorated traditionally with timeless character and promise an extremely comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings.
