In addition to an open-deck observation car, 2 dining cars and just 20 luxury cabins, The Royal Scotsman has a crew of dedicated staff to ensure that your stay in nothing less than perfect. Taking you to some of Scotland's best loved sites from the elegant Glamis Castle and Torridor Mountains to Loch Lomond, Ben Nevis, the Cairngorms National Park, the Isle of Bute and Klye of Lochalsh to mention but a few. Nearly all journeys include a visit to a whisky distillery and all journeys feature a mix of formal and informal evening meals with optional evening entertainment from clansmen story tellers to local musicians. Kilts are welcomed on board and you can even rent one from Kinloch Anderson, the Queen's kilt maker, before your trip begins. Journeys range from between 2 and 7 nights and cover different parts of the country, but all start and finish in Edinburgh. For those who love castles and country homes, the 4 night 'County Home and Garden' itinerary is fantastic.
For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.
