Hoanib Valley Camp
Skeleton Coast
Enveloped by otherworldly sand dunes and phenomenal mountain vistas, Hoanib Valley Camp sits in a prime position in the Kaokoveld region of Northwestern Namibia.
This hotly-anticipated luxury camp is a collaborative venture between Natural Selection, the local communities and the world’s only Africa-wide Giraffe Conservation Foundation, so truly embraces its striking location in an ethical manner. This, along with the supreme comfort of its tents and the excellent safari sightings to be had here, means that this safari camp has been on every discerning traveller’s radar lately – even winning a spot on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s honeymoon hotlist – and we’re delighted to say that the mesmerising property lives up to the hype.
Sophisticated in style, Hoanib Valley Camp’s six tented suites blend seamlessly into their natural, moon-like environment with their earthy-toned canvas canopies and sweeping verandas. Inside, the understated interior design highlights the beautiful furnishings and comfortable beds, which are all made from locally sourced materials by local carpenters, carvers and weavers.
There are plenty of ways to experience the seemingly endless desert here, from rhino tracking and guided nature walks to spending time with local Herero people during cultural activities. It goes without saying that the game drives offered here are a huge draw, for you’re likely to witness desert-adapted lions, elephants, giraffes and more wandering the wilderness among the wind-swept dunes and winding rivers.
Friendly staff are always at hand to ensure you have a wonderful stay here, and the guides really are impressive trackers with an extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna. Post-safari, we're sure you won't be able to resist taking a dip in the camp's inviting swimming pool: a total luxury to be found in such a remote location.
We recommend ending an unforgettable day out here by enjoying a striking sunset over the valley and sipping G&T around the flickering campfire and soaking up the dramatic surroundings, before dining under the stars and swapping stories with the other guests staying at this exclusive camp.
Discover Namibia in all its glory here, where the sheer size and beauty of this country's special landscapes is captured perfectly.
Travelling is like flirting with life. It's like saying, 'I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.
