Nambwa Tented Lodge
Bwabwata National Park

The magical Nambwa Tented Lodge sits deep within Namibia’s lush Bwabwata National Park in the far North Eastern corner of Namibia. Perched on the banks of a tributary Kwando River, it has 10 tented suites all nestled among the trees. Each tented suite exudes comfort and style with their creamy and soft interiors and wooden floors. The suites have their own sitting areas with comfy sofas and super bathrooms. They each have a large, decked veranda overlooking either the river in front or the waterhole making a perfect escape to relax and enjoy the night sounds or to watch the fantastic birdlife in the area.

The suites are linked by wooden walkway to the large and impressive main area which is built on different levels of wooden decks. The dining and sitting areas are tented with an outside dining area for those warm summer evenings. The sitting area has large, squishy sofas and chairs, perfect for sitting and enjoying a night cap or enjoy a pot of tea.

Activities from Nambwa focus on game drives, bush walks in the surrounding forest and boat trips (water levels permitting) and night drives which are a great way to see the elusive and magical nocturnal wildlife. There is also an opportunity to visit a local village.

The wildlife at Nambwa is as interesting as it is varied. Unlike Namibia’s desert camps, Nambwa is a water based camp and there are large concentrations of elephant in the area in the dry season (June to October) as well as roan and eland. Lion, leopard, hyena and wild dogs can also be spotted although not in the same number or frequency to its neighbouring Chobe National Park in Botswana. The birding at Nambwa is exceptional however especially on the seasonal boat trips.
