Xigera Safari Lodge
The Okavango Delta
Xigera Safari Lodge in Setswana stands for ‘Paradise Island’ – aptly named given its picture perfect palm-fringed islands, crystal clear channels and papyrus beds. From Xigera, safari outings are varied and hugely enjoyable. Seasonal boat trips, Mokoro excursions and game drives on the game-rich Nxabega Island are all available. Boat trips do depend on water levels which tend to vary, but the level will always allow for some boating where you may encounter a wallowing hippo, a lone crocodile or the rare and elusive Sitatunga antelope.
Xigera Safari Lodge has 9 spacious and airy tents nestled between giant riverine forest trees, connected by an elevated wooden walkway. There is a well-appointed family suite which has 2 bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms. A daily and most unusual highlight at the lodge is reading the ‘morning news’ – the tracks of nocturnal visitors left behind in a sandpit on the bridge.
There is a charming sitting area and dining is either al fresco or in the lovely dining room. The pool area is secluded and a super treat for those hot October afternoons!
